Solar Impulse, Solar Aircraft Sky Europe Pass

Still remember the longest flight record holder aircraft without fossil fuels, the Solar Impulse HB-SIA?This aircraft is solar-powered aircraft in early July last year, was able to fly for 26 hours nonstop, without fuel pure and simply rely on solar power.Just a note, an unmanned solar aircraft had been present since about the 1980s.However, the Solar Impulse flight performed live while carrying a pilot, namely Andre Borschberg, one of the research project leader.Flight, as reported Discovermagazine, December 20, 2010, made possible after researchers put 12 thousand photovoltaic cells on the tail and the wings that reach 64 meters in length.Photovoltaic cells that transmit extra energy to the battery during the day and was able to supply power to the four existing propeller to keep working at night. Not satisfied with these achievements, Tim HB-SIA is now beencana to circumnavigate the globe with this solar powered aircraft.Plans to pave around the world, this plane will make its first international flight early next week, from Switzerland to Belgium Brussels airport, a distance of approximately 500 km.

Actually, this is not a difficult flight for this aircraft, given the HB-SIA can fly all night without stopping. But according to the HB-SIA team, involving flight international airport has' great technical challenge "."The plane will be ready to take off on July 3, 2011, and will land as soon as possible if weather support," said team HB-SIA, as reported by the site Physorg.HB-SIA team itself has been equipping and training its members to support the smooth running of this important mission. Starting from the meteorologist, flight path planners, air traffic controllers, aircraft engineers and to specialists in the field of IT."Flying aircraft such as the European Solar Impulse across the sky and landed at the international airport is an exciting challenge for us all. Success depends on the support we received from all authorities concerned," said Andre Borschberg, HB-SIA pilot who broke the flight record longest, in July last year.At least, the success of this aircraft will provide the hope of rapid transportation mode that does not rely on fossil fuels.
